Your eyes are the window to your overall health. While eye exams generally include a look at the front of the eye to evaluate health and prescription changes, a thorough screening of the retina is critical to verify that your eye is healthy.

By looking at the retina in such detail, we can monitor and detect common diseases such as glaucoma, diabetes, macular degeneration, and even cancer.  Documenting the retina every year allows us to detect small changes quickly for early diagnosis and prompt treatment.

Today, a whole range of eye problems can be treated successfully without total vision loss. Many problems begin at an early age, so it is important for children to receive proper eye care from the time they are infants.

The exam is exam is quick and painless. Because we are not dilating your eyes for this exam, there are no eye drops, blurry vision or light sensitivity.  Driving home is as clear as the drive to our office.

The Optomap is a valuable tool in the eye exam process and has great benefits to our patients eye and overall health.  Because most insurance providers do not cover the Optomap retinal screening, a small fee is applicable.  You are always given the choice to have a traditional retinal exam with eye dilation.
